As one of the founding team members of Healthcare 21 in 2003, Tara successfully drove the Commercial function of the business, progressing to the Commercial director in 2007, while completing a master’s in business management. Healthcare 21’s Group branding and marketing development over the years has been directed by Tara’s distinct vision for the brand.
Tara’s understanding and deep knowledge of the complex nature of services required for clients coupled with her entrepreneurial and strategic prowess has helped drive significant growth both organically and through acquisition.
In 2010, Tara was appointed as Managing Director. Despite managing a huge, expanding team, Tara maintains an open-door policy and has conserved a family feel to the business. Her passion and drive to provide the best possible solutions and ultimately long-term outcomes for Healthcare 21 customers is mirrored by her team.
The company has experienced exponential growth in the past 10 years under Tara’s leadership, in the past three years alone, the company has tripled in size.

Owen’s healthcare career began over 40 years ago as a supplies officer in a local hospital, the South Infirmary Hospital while also studying commerce in University College Cork.
A natural entrepreneur, Owen mastered the art of healthcare sales which subsequently led him to set up his own business, Southern Hospital Products (SHP), distributing surgical and medical consumables to Southern based healthcare customers. The business was acquired by BM Browne in 1992 and subsequently was sold to DCC (Fannin) in 1998 where Owen held senior management roles including Sales Director and Business Development Director.
Owen’s experience and understanding of the complexity of the healthcare sector, positioned him to create Healthcare 21, as a solutions-based specialist, sales, marketing and distribution organisation.
From start-up in 2003, Healthcare 21’s company values were identified as imperative to the success of the business. These included but were not limited to: “yes to ownership”, “no to mediocrity” and “no to grumpy people”. These values remain an important part of HC21’s day to day business as they strive to assist healthcare professionals and caregivers in delivering the best possible care to patients and clients. Owen’s belief in empowering people to be as good as they can be has been fundamental to the success of the business and ensured rapid expansion to service markets in Ireland, UK and Europe and employ just under 500 personnel.
In addition to successful partnerships with leading, worldwide medical device manufacturers, Healthcare 21 has created customised solutions and delivered 21st century solutions to meet the diverse needs of our healthcare customers.
Owen has taken a hands-on approach in the significant growth and expansion of the business over the years and is a firm believer in the management style of MBWA “Management by walking about”. His passion for use of technology in innovation has ensured that Healthcare 21’s progressive services are supported by leading edge IT solutions.

As one of the founding shareholders of Healthcare 21 UK, David has over 20 years of medical device sales, marketing, business development and management experience. Prior to starting Healthcare 21 UK, David’s position as Vice President of Sales at Covidien (Medtronic), included accountability for $1bn sales and a headcount of over 700 people.
David’s know-how in complex re-structuring, acquisitions and integration coupled with an ambitious strategic outlook has been fundamental to the Healthcare 21 Group’s success. In addition to his role at Healthcare 21, David holds a Non-Executive Chairman role at Alesi Surgical Ltd., a medical device developer and manufacturer.
With David’s strategic input and know-how, Healthcare 21 UK has seen significant growth over the past number of years, in particular through acquisitions.
